Palm v software windows 7

This one's pretty straightforward. Simply extract your Palm Desktop 6. Naturally, you can ignore any prompts to register your software or device as there's no one left to register them with. However, you should also ignore any prompts to run HotSync just yet. If prompted to HotSync, choose Skip and proceed to Step 4. As a side note, you should also verify that Palm Desktop is configured to run as Administrator this should be enabled by default.

Before your Palm can communicate with Palm Desktop, you'll need to configure HotSync Manager to listen on the same channel as you're using to connect. If not, you can run it by searching "HotSync Manager" in the Start menu.

Then, right-click on the system tray icon and choose "Settings". In HotSync Manager settings, navigate to the Connections tab. There you'll see a list of checkboxes for available connection types. Make sure the boxes for any connection types you will be using are checked. If you're using serial, you will also need to assign the COM port indicated in Step 2b. Once your connection settings are correct, click "Done" and HotSync Manager will minimize itself back to the system tray.

For devices running Palm OS 2. This can be done from the HotSync Manager Applications tab. Click "Done" to accept changes and HotSync Manager will minimize itself back to the system tray. You can now add any apps you want to install through the traditional Install menu in Palm Desktop and run HotSync without crashes!

Note that HotSync application settings are applied per-user account, so Package Installer will not be disabled for other devices synced to the same PC.

You can always view other account settings from the dropdown box at the top of HotSync Manager. With Palm Desktop installed and HotSync Manager configured to your connection type, you may now proceed. A window will appear prompting you to choose or create an account for your Palm, then begin transferring data. Now, if you're looking for things to install to your Palm device, why not browse PalmDB for some apps?

Thank you so much. The instructions refer to Win7 only, so there's a bit of "interpretation" required when installing on Win The last two pages contain the critical information.

The new drivers work; that's a plus. The suggested v6. Palm T X being used. Thank You Very much!!! I had forgotten windows 7 and the palm Zire 31 didn't exactly see eye to eye. Glad I found this solution! It works flawlessly!

Like so many others, I love my Palm Pilot and have used one since With Windows OS constantly updating, I keep worrying that I will eventually have to give it up, but alas, your website helped me continue to use it. I love that I don't have all of my private info and passwords in my phone or in the cloud.

This week I loaded windows 10 64 bit and tried to install my palm pilot with no success. I did all that you said in this post, but then I couldn't get my palm information to show in the Palm Desktop. After some research, I found the link to this website to provide a "patch" for legacy Palm Pilots Tungsten C. Then all of the data showed up in my Desktop again. When most of the other Palm OS vendors dropped out of the market, Palm rewrote their PIM applications and came out with a new internal architecture that was not fully compatible with Palm OS applications written for the earlier generation devices.

You may now see under the Other heading the failed device with a yellow triangle against it. You can now proceed to install the drivers per the instructions. Note that the driver supports most Palm OS versions. Go to Solution. Thanks again to WyreNut for all the support as i know this Forum is a benefit for those with limited computer knowledge and your detailed suggestions worked perfectly And Thank You! You are the first person to report success with the Aceeca drivers and Windows 8!!

View solution in original post. I have gotten the aceeca drivers installed successfully, but my palm zire 71 will still not hotsync. It shows up in the Device manager as a palm device but when i select Hotsync it just doesn't run. I am still at a loss as to what my options might be with the current models of palm. Any and all suggestions welcome.. Thank you so much. I was thoroughly disappointed to see that the support telephone for paid support had been discontinued.

I thought I would need to replace my ancient but serviceable Z I have a zire I really struggled getting hot sync to work in conjunction with the new driver. When attempting to install I got the error: Windows encountered error while attempting to install the driver. This device cannot start code Finally, the winning combination was: I plugged the cradle into a different USB port, I removed the hand held from the cradle, I rebooted the system, I tried a hotsync and it worked.

I then plugged back into the original usb port and hotsync was still successful. I spent a couple of hours on this before being successful. Thanks for reporting your success, cynmarq! I am in the process of downloading the bit Palm drivers from Aceera and I must confess I am a little confused by the process and need help.

The directions say to download the drivers and unpack them and remember the folder you unpacked the drivers to. I downloaded the drivers into a folder on my computer called "Downloads". When I click on the folder that has a zipper on it it opens and I see 5 files; a file with installation instructions and 4 other files. Which files will I need in order to make the sync process work? The instructions written by WyreNut also talk about when I am installing the drivers to "direct to the Aceera folder you unpacked the drivers to.

Do I need to create a separate folder and call it "Aceera" and put some of the files into it? If I do need to create an "Aceera" folder which files do I need to put in it?
