Tim - Site Editor - from Certainteed Window Reviews I had Certainteeds installed about 4 years ago and we started having problems after only months. They let so much cold in, I compared with a thermometer and the bathrooms where they were installed are about 3 degrees cooler than everywhere else.

The inside sometimes gets a frost build up. The builder came out, reflashed all of the windows and added new insulation and there was no difference at all. When we finally got the dealer to send someone out, he said our body heat was causing moisture to build up and that made it frost inside.

We are so hot we're creating moisture in rooms we hardly even use? They're awful, just go with someone else. Matthew - Homeowner - from CertainTeed Alliance Connection A few years ago CertainTeed ended their licensing agreements with outside manufacturers. Some of them got together to form Alliance. CertainTeed has gone down in quality ever since.

Alliance makes mediocre windows, but they are better than the new CertainTeeds. Sunrise has a great warranty and I like the finished look of them. They have clean welds and are probably the best window overall. Simonton has two lines the Reflections and the Impressions that I like and I'll probably end up with one of those. The price is good, and with a few upgrades they are about as good as the Sunrise. The Bryn Mawr looks good, but I've heard a lot about their quality control issues recently and they make me reluctant to buy anything from CertainTeed.

Mike - Contractor in Delaware - from Read additional Sunrise window reviews. Right now I have CertainTeeds from and We're putting on an addition so I need something that matches well. The old ones are good but I'm not sure if the company is still making the same quality window as before. I like my CertainTeeds, but is Harvey a better option?

Nancy - Homeowner in Connecticut - from [Response] Harvey makes a good window , I've never seen any real problems from them. CertainTeed is a lower end product. They have a lot of options to draw people in, but they are pretty poor in quality. What does everyone think of them? I talked to a contractor who says he likes them, but I can't find a lot about them online. They won't be around much longer. The name has been sold to a bunch of fly by night companies and you don't know who you're dealing with these days.

Go with Simonton or Sunrise and you won't be sorry. I have 4 casements , a double slider, a 9 foot patio door and 2 picture windows.
